As some of you may be aware, I Have a Honda Insight 2010.
I WILL NOT BE TAMPERING WITH THE HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY. IT IS 107 VOLTS AND I DO NOT HAVE THE PROPER PIE NOR DO I HAVE CONFIDENCE IN MY SKILLS TO DO ANYTHING WITH THAT.
At 10,000 watts that battery WILL KILL.
The vehicle has. 72,000 miles on it ,was a single owner car .
yes we are making payments and yes that includes gap insurance to protect me 8n case it is totalled by some n um skull or act of nature.
The car is a hybrid. Now what I may do is is use it for a bug out vehicle.
That is to say make the thing emergency evac ready.
One advantage is that this car can go a heck of a long ways on a tank of gas.
yes, we are making payments, but you do get what you pay for..invest in j u nk...get junk in return. ...we need a reliable car for medical appointments, for grocery shopping, and for getting to family.
We chose a hybrid for 2 reasons.
1 Cheap on gas as it has a 10.6 gallon tank.. which strangely enough is a full tank on my generator. .I nearly filled the car with 2.5 gallons of gasoline from my 5 gallon "Jerry Can".
The motor on the car is 10 kw ..so those of you with the 10 kw generators..well, you could build a hybrid.
The car is an amazing machine. It is not not gutless, uses a cvt (continuous velocity transmission. .same thinges they use on a "Snow mobiles".)

You got a very nice car there. I always wanted one.
But for a bug out vehicle I am not so sure. If we got hit with an EMP your car will be finished. Otherwise yes it is awesome for bugging out long distance.
