Both could run 2x
Eva-dry Electric Petite Dehumidifier Edv-1100, White
you could have the 2nd one outdoors to capture outdoor humidity

you modify the Eva-dry Electric Petite Dehumidifier water tank with a Barbed Bulkhead

Code: Select all

http://www.amazon.com/Nalgene-6149-0002-Polypropylene-Bulkhead-Fitting/dp/B003OBYNCS/
you have the drill hole some way up mid tank so if there are solids collected from the air they will settle at the bottom of the tank and just easy to clean out every other day

with the tubes you run into the top of a
Brita UltraMax Filtered Water Dispenser

Code: Select all

http://www.amazon.com/Brita-UltraMax-Filtered-Water-Dispenser/dp/B00009LHZH/
- Brita filters are ideal due you can remove them each year and take the solid junk they filed out with them when you throw them away (once or twice a year) (Dead skin cells, Dust , dirt, hair)

modified tank to fit
SteriPEN Traveler Portable, Handheld UV Water Purifier

Code: Select all

http://www.amazon.com/SteriPEN-Traveler-Portable-Handheld-Purifier/dp/B0041EB6EU/
Via a Bigger Bulkhead
Lifegard Aquatics 1-Inch Double Threaded Bulkhead

Code: Select all

http://www.amazon.com/Lifegard-Aquatics-Double-Threaded-Bulkhead/dp/B0002DKAU0/
The uv end will be in the 2nd tank of the
Brita UltraMax Filtered Water Dispenser

and sealed in with candle wax ( it easy to replace the UV SteriPEN Traveler)

we will also modify the SteriPEN Traveler with a 12V to 3V,6V DC DC Regulator more within its voltage spec range and use a arduino uno to cycle it on and off (48 sec on with 2 mins off)
the UVC is to stop Legionnaires (Legionella pneumophila) and others getting into the Aquaponics system and getting into your food as you grow it.

it's the only problem with AirCon & Dehumidifier they handle alot of air + water and the stuff that's airborne.
and it all comes out in the collected water.

Yes I remember that conversation :)

I plan to collect rain water. I should have enough rain water for my plants and fish plus enough for myself this year. I will expand my system. Plus the greenhouse roof will essentially double my water collection area. This more than quadruples the amount I was getting off the RV.

I will have a lot more water storage tanks too.

In summer I will have the greenhouse vented to the outside air to keep it cooler as well.

Sub Tank box
is useful for things like a Swirl filter and Sand Filter to go into it also keeps the fish tank the same level

I cant wait to get my chicken fence done and then finish the tiny house siding. Then I will build a porch which wraps around the tiny house. Then I am going to build my large, full scale aquaponics system.

The tiny one is working nicely now. The fish got Ick and died tho. I think they were sick at the store. I should have treated them right away. I dont know what happens when I put the meds in the fish though and then eat the food.

You don't put meds in the Aquaponics tank
- Some meds will kill the nitrification bacteria in the growbeds (without them your nitrification cycle will crash and ammonia level spikes and kills the fish)
- Some meds make the plants unfit for consumption
>> the book you got pretty much covered this

You have to have a separate tank for medical treatments (Indoors)
and a 3rd small tank for transport / "rinsing" the fish when well to return it back to the Aquaponics setup after re climate ising the fish

"rinsing" the fish
- 3 water changes with rainwater allow 2 hours for and between each change (never add this water to the Aquaponics setup)
- 4 is slowly mixing the rain water with water from the Aquaponics tank as the transport tank floats in the Aquaponics tank
and allows the fish to temp adjust. it take 2 - 3 hours then you turn the tank over and free the fish

are you testing the water
API Freshwater Master Test Kit
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000255NCI/

or
API 5 in 1 Aquarium Test Strips
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HHOAIY/

these kits are Needed
they highlight issue with the nitrification cycle if incomplete

and allows you to take action by adding
DrTim's Aquatics One & Only Live Nitrifying Bacteria for Cycling Aquaria
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001LULBXI/

With your Setup you need to be doing 4 samples a day for the first 3 weeks (your pump stops at sundown)
- one early morning before the sun comes up
- one at noon
- one at sundown
- one at midnight

this is so you can spot problems and know the daily trend levels
