Goal Zero 80 watt Solar Station Harbor Freight. 400 Inverter

Post by Solar98632 » Fri May 08, 2015 10:40 pm

It seems that inverters are assembled in so many different ways it ant even funny.

One would think that a 400 watt inverted should turn a fan at a nice normal speed.
But that doesn't seem to be the case.

It appears that the Yeti 150 with 80 Watts is a purer form of power thennthe harbor freight inverted.

The yeti 150 is by no means a pure sign wave inverted at all.

But when I plugged an electric. Fan in to the yeti, it spun up faster. And seemed to be operating at near perfect speed.

This is an interesting find.

I will be keeping the charge controller but I will be getting rid of the harbor freight 400 watt inverted.

I will be getting a yeti 400 in the very near future.

It costs about 500 bucks.

The yeti 150 will almost power my crock pot. But I do not feel like pushing my luck.

Basically you get what you pay for. The cheaper inverters are cheap in quality as well. And probably at a very horrible excuse for a modified sine wave.

In deed thus I will be getting one.

The yet I 150 on a light load produces around. 67 Hz. @115 vac.

I have not attempted the hf inverter unit

Currently I am charging my getting with a 24 volt computer powe supply used for a lap top.
It..is to say the least slow.. Even at 3.6 amps.

Yes, i finally got a Kill a Watt

The kill a watt meter is such an awesome tool for living off the grid on solar power.
