MPPT vs PWM

Post by jos6i » Thu Jan 09, 2014 1:53 am

I've just ordered online a brand new 40A MPPT controller, lets see if it really does what people and reviews claim it/them they do. Been accostumed for yers with the use of PWMs, I've noticed they tend to waste too much energy that could have been harvested in a better way. Let's see.
I'll tell you my experiences on it and, please, if you have any experiences or advices on using them, donn't boubt noticing me.
thanks

I was in Australia all winter so I sadly did not get to answer messages. I am catching up now.

The MPPT solar charge controller is much more efficient that the PWM type controller by far. You will get a lot more charging current at all times of day and night.

Plus most MPPT solar charge controllers will allow you to increase the overall voltage of the panels by adding them together in series. Higher voltage means you can use smaller wires and get less loss in the lines.
