Bedini Motor Parts List

This is the parts list for the Bedini Motor I made using recycled computer parts.

Get 3 solenoid coils from an old laser printer. Normally two are larger and one smaller. The smaller one is the trigger and the two larger ones are the power coils

1 - 2n3055 power transistor
1 - 1n4001 diode
1 - 1n4007 diode
1 - potentiometer 1K Ohms, optional for tuning
1 - 100 Ohm resistor
1 - Ne-2 neon bulb
4 - ceramic magnets

I also used a hard drive motor for its bearings and platters. I did NOT use it for its motor. Just used it because it spin freely.

Most, if not all of the electronics can be salvaged from an old radio tuner or amp. The transistor could be replaced with a power transistor, but the 3055 is recommended for your first build.

Ok i have managed to ordered most of the parts i cannot find any old solenoid coils from a laser printer so i will see if i can perhaps wind 3 coils myself. Do you think that will work techman ? How many winds should i do for each coil ? Thanks for your help.

Strange, most laser printers have solenoid coils in them.

Well, anyway, you can wind a single coil on a spool with about 800 turns of both 18 and 23 awg wire together at the same time. The smaller wire is the trigger and the larger wire is the power wire.

Stuff the center of the spool with Lincoln R60 welding rod. If you cannot find that, use baling wire, cut into strips and painted individually before stuffing an many into the core as you can.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info techman i have not wound coils before !! But i have now found an old microwave in my loft so will try & use the coils like you said :) I now have all my other parts ready for the build :)
