Solar powered freezer

Post by john.tweedle » Mon Feb 23, 2015 3:10 pm

I highly reccommend these. I have the 65 quart and ran it for 2 days off 2 6 volt golf cart batteries with no problems. Seems well built and easily repaired if necessary after warrenty period...

I am running a chest freezer with four 230 watt solar panels and four Yellow Top Optimas for a total of 1248 watt hours of storage and on a sunny day I also plug in my quad core cmputer to the solar system. Check out my youtube channel to see the details. "Shartne" Two more Yellow Top Optimas would greatly improve the system so I could use my computer full time day and night on solar.

Looking at the price, it seems quite expensive for Troy, but I don't know his finances. Something like as shown in

will help out if there is no propane fridge. He's also got a 12V cooler I think.

I cant believe these are sold at Home Depot. They have some nice models there. Thanks for the link. They are a bit pricey though for me but something to consider for the future.

I am going to have to look this up. I find it hard to believe it only uses 30 watts. That is quite rare really. Thanks for the link
